Etymology

From пыль (pylʹ, dust) +‎ -е- (-e-) +‎ -сос (-sos), combining form of соса́ть (sosátʹ, to suck). Calque of German Staubsauger.[1] First attested in 1907. Calqued also as пылевсасыватель (pylevsasyvatelʹ) (1914).[1]
