Etymology

[edit]

Either via Ancient Greek Ἀβραάμ (Abraám) or Classical Syriac ܐܒܪܗܡ (ʼAḇrāhām), from Biblical Hebrew אַבְרָהָם (ʼAḇrāhām). The spelling Աբրաամ (Abraam) was certainly from Ancient Greek and was considered more scholarly.
