Old Armenian

Etymology

Either wholly borrowed from Iranian – compare Middle Persian 𐭠𐭮𐭥𐭥𐭮𐭲𐭭 (ʾswrstn), Parthian 𐭀𐭎𐭅𐭓𐭎𐭕𐭍 (ʾswrstn) – or, according to Hübschmann, formed in Armenian as ասորի (asori) +‎ -աստան (-astan). The sound change -իա- (-ia-) → -ե- (-e-) is regular in Armenian.

       Korčēkʿ is east of Mokkʿ by Assyria. It has eleven districts: Kordis, Upper Kordis, Middle Kordis, Lower Kordis, Aytuans, Motʿłans, Orsirans, Karatunis, Čahuk, and Lesser Ałbak. It has arsenic and among its fruits is the chestnut.
