From *թշման (*tʿšman) (under the influence of թշնամ- (tʿšnam-)), from *դշման (*dšman), from Iranian, +‎ (-i). Compare Manichaean Parthian dwšmn, dwšmyn (dušmen, enemy), Persian دشمن (došman, enemy); see there for more.
