Old Armenian

Etymology

From the root կառ- (kaṙ-, to erect, build, fix) +‎ -չ- (-čʻ-). The origin of the root is uncertain.[1] Perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *gʷr̥H-, zero-grade of *gʷerH- (to elevate).[2] For *-r̥H-ռ () compare գառն (gaṙn).
