Old Armenian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Probably a rhyme-formation from լուռ(luṙ); compare լուռ-մուռ(luṙ-muṙ, silent, silently). Alternatively, from Proto-Indo-European sound-symbolic *mū- and related to մունջ(munǰ).
