Ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *bul-, a variant of *bʰel- ‎(to swell), + -որ ‎(-or). Cognate with Old Norse bǫllr ‎(ball, testicle), Sanskrit बुलि ‎(buli, buttocks; vulva). Related to բոլոր ‎(bolor), պուպուլ ‎(pupul), պլլիկ ‎(pllik).
