1. Third-person masculine singular vav-consecutive imperfect (hence past tense) of אָמַר (amár): (and) (he/it) said

     וַיֹּאמֶר לָרָשָׁע לָמָּה תַכֶּה רֵעֶךָ

     vayómer larashá láma také reécha

     and he said to him that did the wrong, Wherefore smitest thou thy fellow?
