[edit]From Middle High German kübel, from Old High German kubilo or kubelen pl, from Medieval Latin cupellus (diminutive of cūpa), from Latin cūpella possibly via Franco-Provençal cubel (“small tub”).[1][2] Related to קובעל (kubel, “coop, tub”), קובל (kubl, “cask, barrel”). Compare German Kübel, English kibble.
