اِنْبَغَى (inbaḡā) VII (non-past يَنْبَغِي (yanbaḡī), verbal noun اِنْبِغَاء (inbiḡāʔ)) (rare in the past tense)

  1. to beseem, to be proper, to be seemly, to be necessary, must
    لَا أَعْلَمُ مَاذَا يَنْبَغِي أَنْ أَتَوَقَّعَ مِنْهَا.
    lā ʔaʕlamu māḏā yanbaḡī ʔan ʔatawaqqaʕa minhā.

      اَلظَّاهِرُ أَنَّ «لَهَا» فِي قَوْلِ الْمُتَنَبِّي: «لَوْلَا مُفَارَقَةُ الْأَحْبَابِ مَا وَجَدَتْ * لَهَا الْمَنَايَا إِلَى أَرْوَاحِنَا سُبُلَا» جَارٌّ وَمَجْرُورٌ مُتَعَلِّقٌ بِوَجَدَتْ، لٰكِنَّ فِيهِ تَعَدِّيَ فِعْلِ الظَّاهِرِ إِلَى ضَمِيرِهِ الْمُتَّصِلِ كَقَوْلِكَ «ضَرَبَهُ زَيْدٌ» وَذٰلِكَ مُمْتَنِعٌ؛ فَيَنْبَغِي أَنْ يُقَدَّرَ صِفَةً فِي الْأَصْلِ لِسُبُلَا، فَلَمَّا تَقَدَّمَ عَلَيْهِ صَارَ حَالًا مِنْهُ
      aẓ-ẓāhiru ʔanna “lahā” fī qawli l-mutanabbī: “lawlā mufāraqatu l-ʔaḥbābi mā wajadat * lahā l-manāyā ʔilā ʔarwāḥinā subulā” jārrun wamajrūrun mutaʕalliqun biwajadat, lākinna fīhi taʕaddiya fiʕli ẓ-ẓāhiri ʔilā ḍamīrihi l-muttaṣili kaqawlika “ḍarabahu zaydun” waḏālika mumtaniʕun; fayanbaḡī ʔan yuqaddara ṣifatan fī l-ʔaṣli lisubulā, falammā taqaddama ʕalayhi ṣāra ḥālan minhu
