Etymology

    Compound of بات (bāt, talk, matter) +‎ چیت* (*cīt), a term found only in this compound, from Prakrit 𑀘𑀺𑀢𑁆𑀢𑀺 (citti), from Sanskrit चित्ति (citti, thought). Cognate to Gujarati વાતચીત (vātcīt).
