Etymology[edit]
Borrowed from Classical Persian بیوقوف (bēwuqūf), from بی (bē-, “without”) + Arabic وُقُوف (wuqūf, “standing still; study, knowledge”). Compare Bengali বেকুব (bekub), Gujarati બેવકૂફ (bevakūph).
