  1. it is hoped, it may be (with أَن (ʔan) + subjunctive)
    Synonyms: عَسَى (ʕasā), (archaic) اِخْلَوْلَقَ (iḵlawlaqa)
    حَرَى ٱلطَّبِيبُ أَنْ يُعَالِجَ ٱلْمَرْضَى.
    ḥarā ṭ-ṭabību ʔan yuʕālija l-marḍā.
    It is hoped that the doctor cures the patients

  • The verb is defective and does not conjugate or receive case endings; it is used the same way with the same final vowels in all contexts.
  • The verbs حَرَى (ḥarā) and اِخْلَوْلَقَ (iḵlawlaqa) are rarely used in contemporary Arabic.
