[edit]From Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (hwltk' /xwurdag/, “something small, particle”), from [script needed] (hwlt' /xwurd/, “small, little”), thus equivalent to خرد (xord) + ـه (-e). Compare Old Armenian խորտակեմ (xortakem), an Iranian borrowing.
