Etymology

From دا‎ (dâ, “mother”) +‎ ـزه‎ (ze, “diminutive suffix”), literally “little mother, little mom”.

Or دا‎ (dâ, “mother”) +‎ ـزه‎ (ze, “born”), then the second part is from زاییدن‎ (zâyidan, “to born, to beget”). Compare typologically دایی‎ (dâyi, “maternal uncle”).

This word is still used in Isfahan and other areas of Central Iran like Fars province and Yazd province.
