Etymology

From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Middle Persian BRTE, dwht' (duxt), ultimately from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Indo-European *dʰugh₂tḗr. Doublet of دختر (doxtar), which is from the (early) Middle Persian oblique case, while دخت is from the direct case.
