Identical to Jewish Palestinian Aramaic זרגונה (zargōnā), Jewish Babylonian Aramaic זרגונא (zargōnā), Classical Syriac ܙܪܓܘܢܐ (zargōnā), Hebrew זרגון (zargōn), also meaning vine shoots. Compare Hebrew זרדים (young sprouts, shoots; hawthorn (Crataegus monogyna); whitethorn (Crataegus azarolus) and its shoots), hence perhaps related to زُعْرُور (zuʕrūr, medlar (Crataegus)).
