Borrowed from Aramaic קַשּׁא (qaššā) /‎ ܩܷܫܳܐ (qeššā, thin straw, stubble, chaff), from Akkadian 𒄀𒋝 (/⁠kikkišu, kikkisu⁠/, large amounts of reeds plaited together).
