Etymology[edit]

From the root ل س س (l-s-s), where لَسَّ (lassa, to graze off). Formally compare لُعَاع (luʕāʕ, tender greenery).

  1. (obsolete) grass short by reason of grazing
  2. boxthorn (Lycium gen. et spp.)
