Etymology

Derived from the active participle of أَرَاحَ (ʔarāḥa, to let rest, to soothe) and أَرْوَحَ (ʔarwaḥa, to stink), from the root ر و ح (r-w-ḥ); compare رَاحَة (rāḥa, rest, comfort) and رِيحَة (rīḥa, smell).
