Etymology

From Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (gc /⁠gač⁠/, plaster, gypsum), ultimately from Akkadian 𒅎𒌓 (IM.BABBAR /⁠gaṣṣu⁠/, gypsum). Cognate with Khotanese [script needed] (gatsä, gypsum).
