Inherited from Proto-Iranian *wáhištHáhuš (literally best existence) from Proto-Indo-Iranian *Hwásištʰas (best) + *Hásuš (life) from Proto-Indo-European *h₁wésus (good) and *h₁es- (to be). Cognate with Persian بِهِشْت (behešt) and Avestan 𐬬𐬀𐬵𐬌𐬱𐬙𐬋𐬀𐬢𐬵𐬎𐬱 (vahištōaŋhuš)
