[edit]From the root ܢ-ܓ-ܠ (n-ɡ-l). Compare Hebrew מַגָּל (maggāl), Arabic مِنْجَل (minjal) (according to Fraenkel perhaps borrowed from Aramaic), Assyrian Neo-Aramaic ܡܲܓܠܵܐ (māgyla), as well as Persian منگال (mangâl), Zoroastrian Dari mangāl, Semitic loanwords.
