Inherited from Sanskrit पुरा (purā, before, formerly). Cognate to Sinhalese පෙර (pera) and Hindi पुराब (purāb). Doublet of ފޫރުއްބަ (fūrubba), ޕޫރުބެ (pūrube), and ޕުރެ (pure)
