Borrowed from Classical Persian الله (allāh), from Arabic اللّٰه (allāh). First attested as Old Hindi अलह (alaha). Compare Punjabi ਅੱਲਾਹ (allāh), ਅੱਲਾ (allā) / اللہ (allāh, allā), Bengali আল্লাহ (allah), Malayalam അല്ലാഹു (allāhu).
