From Proto-Indo-European *h₂eyḱ- (ability, possession). Same Indo-European source as Avestan 𐬀𐬉𐬱𐬁 (aēšā-, ability, possessions), Tocharian B aik- (to know) and Proto-Germanic *aiganą (English own).
