Probably from Proto-Indo-Iranian *Hr̥gʰaHy-, from Proto-Indo-European *h₁ergʰ- (to move). Cognate with Ancient Greek ἔρχομαι (érkhomai, to go, come), ὀρχέομαι (orkhéomai, to dance, leap); probably not related to Proto-Germanic *argaz (unmanly, effeminate, cowardly).
