Etymology

    Inherited from Proto-New Indo-Aryan *कच्च (kacca, raw, unripe) without cluster simplification. Displaced Hindi काँचा (kā̃cā).[1] Compare Sanskrit काषण (kāṣaṇa, unripe). Cognate with Punjabi ਕੱਚਾ (kaccā), Bengali কাঁচা (kãca).
