Etymology

Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀓𑁄𑀟𑀺 (koḍi), from Sanskrit कोटि (koṭi), borrowed from Munda. The initial k(a)r- is attested throughout New Indo-Aryan, and is considered a re-Sanskritisation by Turner.
