Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘓𑘲𑘽𑘝𑘜𑘹 (cīṃtaṇe), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀘𑀺𑀁𑀢𑁂𑀇 (ciṃtei), from Sanskrit चिन्तयति (cintayati).
