Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘕𑘲𑘪𑘿𑘮𑘰𑘯𑘰 (jīvhāḷā), 𑘕𑘲𑘪𑘰𑘯𑘰 (jīvāḷā), from Sanskrit जीवल (jīvalá). Compare Hindustani جِلانا (jilānā) / जिलाना (jilānā), Sindhi جِيئَرو / जिअरो, Marwari जिलाणौ (jilāṇau), Punjabi ਜਿਵਾਉਣਾ (jivāuṇā) / جِواؤݨا (jivā'oṇā), ਜਿਵਾਲਣਾ (jivālṇā) / جِوالݨا (jivālṇā), Nepali जिलो (jilo), जियालो (jiyālo), Odia ଜିଅଳ (jiôḷô), Maithili जिआर (jiār) / 𑒖𑒱𑒂𑒩 (jiāra).
