With Grassman's Law in New Indo-Aryan from ठंढा (ṭhaṇḍhā), which is from Prakrit *ठंढ (ṭhaṃḍha, “cold”) + Middle Indo-Aryan -𑀓- (-ka-), which is from Prakrit ठड्ढ (ṭhaḍḍha, “cold, stiff”) with contamination of -ṇ- from a derivative of Proto-Dravidian *taṇ (“cold”). Ultimately from Sanskrit स्तब्ध (stabdha). Doublet of स्तब्ध (stabdh), ठाढ़ा (ṭhāṛhā), and ठड्डा (ṭhaḍḍā).
