Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘚𑘻𑘽𑘐𑘨 (ḍoṃgara), from Maharastri Prakrit 𑀟𑀼𑀁𑀕𑀭 (ḍuṃgara), of a non-Indo-Aryan substrate origin.
