Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Classical Persian نوجوان (nawjawān), from نو (naw, new) + جوان (jawān, young). By surface analysis, नौ- (nau-, new) +‎ जवान (javān, young); see नया (nayā, new) and युवा (yuvā, young) for the inherited doublets of each component.
