Borrowed from Classical Persian ملایم (mulāyim), from Arabic مُلَائِم (mulāʔim). Compare Punjabi ਮੁਲਾਇਮ / مُلائم (mulāem), Gujarati મુલાયમ (mulāyam), Bengali মোলায়েম (mōlaẏem).
