Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Old Marathi 𑘭𑘻 (so), 𑘭𑘻𑘽𑘐 (soṃga), 𑘭𑘻𑘁𑘽𑘐 (soāṃga), 𑘭𑘿𑘪𑘰𑘽𑘐 (svāṃga) (compare Sanskrit समङ्ग (samaṅga, a kind of game)). Cognate with Hindustani سْوَانْگ (svāṅg) / स्वाँग (svāṅg), Gujarati સોંગ (soṅg), સ્વાંગ (svā̃g), Punjabi ਸਾਂਗ (sāṅg) / سانگ (sāng), ਸ੍ਵਾਂਗ (svāṅg), ਸਵਾਂਗ (savāṅg) / سوانگ (soāng), Odia ସୁଆଙ୍ଗ (suaṅgô).
