Inherited from Magadhi Prakrit 𑀉𑀓𑁆𑀓𑀼𑀡 (ukkuṇa), 𑀑𑀓𑁆𑀓𑀡 (okkaṇa), 𑀑𑀓𑁆𑀓𑀡𑀻 (okkaṇī), from Sanskrit उत्कुण (utkuṇa), ओक्कण (okkaṇa), ओक्कणि (okkaṇi). Cognate with Sylheti ꠃꠇꠂꠘ (ukoino), Assamese ওকণি (ükoni), Odia ଉକୁଣି (ukuṇi).
