Etymology[edit]

From খৰ (khor, dry weather; quick) +‎ -আং (-aṅ, being of the nature). খৰ (khor) is from Sanskrit খৰ (khara, hard; sharp; pungent), from late Proto-Indo-European/substrate root *kar (stone, hard). Cognate with Bengali খরা (khora).
