Borrowed from Classical Persian زمیندار (zamindār) By surface analysis, জমি (jomi) +‎ -দার (-dar). Cognate with Hindi जमींदार (jamīndār), Punjabi ਜ਼ਿਮੀਂਦਾਰ (zimīndār), Nepali जमिनदार (jamindār), Tamil ஜமீன்தார் (jamīṉtār).
