Etymology

Borrowed from Classical Persian ريشمى (rēšmī, rīšmī), from ابریشمی (abrīšamī). Synchronically derivable from রেশম (reśom) + -ই (-i).

Compare Sylheti ꠞꠦꠡꠝꠤ (reśomi), Assamese ৰেছমী (resomi), Odia ରେଶମୀ (reśami), Hindustani ریشمی / रेशमी (reśmī).
