Etymology 1

Borrowed from Classical Persian صَحِیح (sahīh), with a semantic narrowing in Indian Persian, from Arabic صَحِيح (ṣaḥīḥ, “correct, valid”). First attested in the 18th century as Middle Bengali সহি (śohi). Doublet of সহীহ (sohih), borrowed directly from Arabic.
