Etymology 1

Borrowed from Classical Persian صَحِیح (sahīh), with a semantic narrowing in Indian Persian,[1] from Arabic صَحِيح (ṣaḥīḥ, correct, valid). First attested in the 18th century[1] as Middle Bengali সহি (śohi). Doublet of সহীহ (sohih), borrowed directly from Arabic.
