Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀉𑀢𑁆𑀢𑀸𑀯𑀮 (uttāvala), from Sanskrit *उत्तापल (uttāpala), from उत्ताप (uttāpa) +‎ -ल (-la). Cognate with Bengali উতল (utol), Hindi उतावला (utāvlā), Kachchi ઔતાવડ઼ (autāvaṛ), Marathi उतावळ (utāvaḷ), Marwari उतावळ (utāvaḷ), Sindhi اُتاوَلِ (utāvali)
