Etymology
[edit]Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀲𑁄𑀳𑀕𑁆𑀕 (sohagga), from Sanskrit सौभाग्य (saúbhāgya). Doublet of સૌભાગ્ય (saubhāgya). Cognate with Assamese সুবাগ (xubag), Bengali সোহাগ (śōhag), Hindi सुहाग (suhāg), Odia ସୋହାଗ (sohāga), Punjabi سوہاگ / ਸੋਹਾਗ (sohāg), and Sindhi سُهاڳُہ (suhāg̠u).
