Borrowed from French café, borrowed from Italian caffè, first appearing as the form caveé, from Ottoman Turkish قهوه (kahve) (Turkish kahve), from Arabic قَهْوَة (qahwa, coffee). Cognate with Lao ກາເຟ (kā fē).
