From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Old Georgian აბანო (abano), from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Georgian-Zan *ban- (whence also ბანაობა (banaoba), ბანაობს (banaobs), დაბანა (dabana), დაბანილი (dabanili), განბანა (ganbana), დაიბანა (daibana), დაბანა (dabana), etc.). Cognate with Mingrelian ბონუა (bonua, to wash oneself), აბანა (abana) and Laz ობონუ (obonu, to wash oneself).
