Etymology[edit]

Ultimately from Arabic مَنْزِل (manzil, house, dwelling). For the sense development compare Ottoman Turkish منزل (menzil, inn; distance travelled in one day) and Armenian մանզիլ (manzil, inn; distance).

The word is not attested in Middle or Old Georgian manuscripts.
