From მე- (me-) +‎ ჩ- (ç-) +‎ -ამ (-am) +‎ -ს (-s). Inherited from Proto-Georgian-Zan *c₁- (“to give; to beat”).

   1. to donate, to leave to someone, to deliver

   2. to marry someone (usually a girl) to someone

      ე, ბერეჩქიმი! ჰაშო ამაონუგამაონუთე სი მითიქ ბოზო ვარმექჩამს.

      e, bereçkimi! haşo amaonugamaonute si mitik bozo varmekçams.

      Oh, my son! Nobody will give you a girl by wandering up and down like this.

Usage notes

• Verbal noun; მეჩამუ (meçamu)
• If the dative complement of this verb is first person, the preverb becomes მო- (mo-) instead of მე- (me-). Example:
  ჯოღაპი მუდა მომჩამ?

  coğap̌i muda momçam?

  Why don't you answer me?
