Inherited from Proto-Georgian-Zan *win (“who”). Cognate with Georgian ვინ (vin).

Usage notes

• Plural of this noun shows dialectal difference; მიფე (mipe) (Atina, Vizha, Artasheni, Arkabi), მიფერეფე (miperepe) (Artasheni, Arkabi), მინთერე (mintere) (Vitse), მინთეფე (mintepe) (Vitse, Chkhala), მირეფე (mirepe) (Khopa)
• In the dialects between Vitse and Khopa this interrogative pronoun takes the form მინ- (min-) before the copula verb in the second and third person. Ex: სი მინორე? (si minore?, “Who are you?”), ჰემ კოჩი მინორენ? (hem ǩoçi minoren?, “Who is that man?”).
