Etymology[edit]
From Old Georgian ნაჴშირი (naqširi), ნაყშირი (naq̇širi), possibly from Proto-Georgian-Zan *na-qšir- (“coal”); see Old Georgian for more. Cognate with Mingrelian ნოშქვერი (noškveri), ნოშქერი (noškeri) and Laz ნოშქერი (noşkeri), ნოშქეი (noşkei).
