Etymology[edit]

From Old Georgian რვა (rva), from Proto-Kartvelian *arwa- (eight), borrowed from Proto-Semitic *ʔarbaʕ-; see below. Cognate with Mingrelian რუო (ruo), Laz ოვრო (ovro) and Svan არა (ara).
