Etymology[edit]

From Old Georgian რვა ‎(rva), from Proto-Kartvelian *arwa- ‎(eight), borrowed from Proto-Semitic *ʔarbaʕ-; see below. Cognate with Mingrelian რუო ‎(ruo), Laz ოვრო ‎(ovro) and Svan არა ‎(ara).
